King Ludwig II of Bavaria called upon all the great architects to design his greatest achievement: a world-renowned palace. Only the best will do! Beautiful landscaping, white stone, surrounded by water, with swans everywhere. Oh, and the Ludwig touch? All architects must design the palace together. The designer who will have the most influence will receive the order to build it.
In The Palace of King Louis the Fool, each player builds one room at a time in a single gigantic palace. As the rooms are built, a ditch slowly forms around the outside. Once the ends of the ditch are connected, the palace is finished, and the player who contributed the most to the palace wins!
In more detail, this sequel to Castles of Mad King Ludwig shares some similarities with its predecessor, such as tile placement, room rewards and the magic of seeing a unique palace take shape throughout the game, but the gameplay is entirely different, with no auction, a smart end-of-game timer that graphically increases the pressure for players while the moat slowly closes around the palace , and a change in resource management with multicolored swan tokens used as currency, points and keys for new abilities.
