Description
The Golden Gate Bridge is an Art Deco suspension bridge spanning San Francisco Bay and is one of the city's most enduring symbols. Its construction arose from the need for a better route between San Francisco and Marin, as ferry traffic in San Francisco Bay had become too heavy. Construction of the Golden Gate Bridge began in 1933 and was completed in 1937.
