It resembles chess with two armies fighting to capture the enemy general. Some believe that the game was developed in 204 BC during the period of the Fighting Kingdoms in China to prepare for a battle. Another theory claims that the game began as a simulation of astronomy citing the comparison of "figures" to constellations and the "river" to the Milky Way.
