IMPORTANT: The Carcassonne Base Game is required to play with this expansion.
The second major expansion for the original Carcassonne game, Traders and Builders, contains 24 tiles with new features such as bridges and cities.
Some tiles also feature symbols for the goods Wine, Cloth, and Wheat. Players collect one of these goods when the corresponding symbol on the tile is marked. Players with the most of each type of good receive bonus points at the end of the game. There is a popular house rule that allows players to trade goods for other goods and choose where a tile is placed.
Two new wooden pieces are also available in this expansion. The Builder is like a meeple in that it can be placed in a town or on a road as a sort of supervisor. A later extension of the Builder's ability allows the player to place another tile. Farmers will also be able to place a new Pig token in a field to score extra points at the end of the game.
Finally, Traders & Builders comes with a large fabric bag. Not only does it make storing and handling the tiles easier, but it also helps prevent the tiles from having mismatched backs.
