Legend has it that a long time ago, humanity was so ignorant that it did not know how to count or distinguish the years. The Emperor of Jade, always so benevolent, wanted to help humanity. From there, the idea of a twelve-year cycle and the designation of each year in the cycle after the birth of an animal.

But how did the Emperor of Jade choose twelve animals from so many animals of the world alive, while remaining impartial? To solve this problem fairly, the Emperor of Jade decided to organize a race involving all the animals on his birthday. The first twelve animals to cross the river and reach the celestial palace will have one year to their name, in order of their arrival. The race was dubbed "The Great Race" and the twelve-year cycle was dubbed "Chinese Zodiac".

Race for the Chinese Zodiac is a board game that recreates the Great Race. Each player has a hand of eight action cards (numbered from 1 to 8) as well as energy cards of different values and karma tokens. Each player chooses an animal token and takes the corresponding animal card, which gives him advantages during the race. All players place their animal token on the starting area of the race track. Players assemble the double-sided, double-sided action wheel that is used to determine the effectiveness of each action and place it in the center of the table.

In the next round, all players choose an action card and an energy card in their hand, and then they reveal those cards simultaneously. If the selected action card is worth less than the action card previously played by the player, the player must spend a karma token; If two or more values are lower, he must spend two karma tokens. Players then solve all the actions played based on the orientation of the wheel, ideally by winning the movement, new energy cards and karma. Each one places his cards face up in front of him, then spins the wheel of a square clockwise and begins a new turn.

The first animal to complete the race wins the coveted right to see the first year of the Chinese zodiac bear his name!
