Codenames Duo keeps the basic elements of code names - giving clues in a nutshell to try to get your agents identified among those on the table - but now you're working together as a team to find all your agents. (Why don't you already know who your agents are? This is a question that congressional investigators will ask you later).
To set up the game, have 25 word cards in a 5×5 grid. Place a key card in its holder so that each player can see one side of the card. Each player sees a 5×5 grid on the map, with nine of the green colored squares (representing your agents) and three squares colored in black (representing assassins). Three of the nine squares on each side are also green on the other side, one assassin is black on both sides, one is green on the other side and the other is an innocent bystander on the other side.
Collectively, you must reveal the fifteen agents - without revealing an assassin - before time runs out in order to win the game. Each player can decide to give the first clue of a word to the other player, accompanied by a number. Whoever receives the clue places a finger on a map to identify that agent. If the index is correct, they may try to identify another. If he identifies a spectator, his guessing time ends. If they identify a murderer, you both lose! Unlike the usual code names, they can continue to guess as long as they identify an agent each time; this allows them to go back to previous clues and find the ones they missed earlier. After giving the first clue, players alternate by giving clues.
