Description
R2-D2, pronounced Artoo-Detoo and often called R2 (Artoo), was an astromech droid of the R2 series manufactured by Industrial Automaton with male programming. An intelligent and courageous droid who served a multitude of masters throughout his life, R2 never had his memory completely wiped (with the exception of a partial mind wipe by Cad Bane during the build-up of the Senate hostage crisis), nor was he ever reprogrammed, with these factors resulting in an adventurous and independent attitude. Often finding himself at pivotal moments in galactic history, his bravery and ingenuity saved the galaxy time and again.
