Through the Ages: A New History of Civilization is the new edition of Through the Ages: A Story of Civilization, with many changes, large and small, brought to the game's maps during its three ages and significant changes in the functioning of the army.

Through the ages is a game of building civilization. Each player tries to build the best civilization possible by carefully managing resources, discovering new technologies, electing the right leaders, creating wonders and maintaining a strong army. Weaknesses in any field can be exploited by your opponents. The game takes place through the ages, from antiquity to the modern era.

One of the main mechanisms of the ATT is the drawing of cards. Technology, wonders and leaders come into play and become easier to shoot as they are involved. To use a technology, you will need enough science to discover it, enough food to create a population to use it, and enough resources (mineral) to build the building to use it. While balancing the resources needed to advance your technology, you also need to build an army. Military buildings are built in the same way as civilian buildings. Players with a weak army will fall prey to other players. There is no map in the game, so you can't lose territory, but players with a more powerful army will steal resources, science, kill leaders, take the population or the culture. It is very difficult to win with a large army, but it is very easy to lose because of a weak army.

Victory is won by the player whose nation has the most culture at the end of the modern era.
