Tindaya is set at the dawn of the 15th century on the paradise that is now the Canary Islands. Conquistadors have just laid eyes on it. Each player must lead an aboriginal tribe to survival in a world governed by gods and shaped by natural disasters.
Tindaya is a thematic survival game with the soul of a eurogame. This environmentally conscious game features two game modes to satisfy all groups: Cooperative (including solo) and Competitive, in addition to the Traitor variant for players eager for old-fashioned backstabbing. The difficulty can be scaled, and less experienced players can learn to play through a 3-game mini-campaign.
Over three phases, the natives settle, progress, and fight the invaders, in a mythological setting ruled by two gods, Acoran and Moneiba. At each stage of the game, the gods demand specific goods. If the natives cannot or will not provide them, their divine rage is unleashed. But players are not alone: two seers make predictions by reading the smoke from their bonfires. Tibiabin will see the upcoming disasters. Tamonante predicts where they will occur. Disaster markers will be placed on the game board to signal upcoming events.
End of the game: In cooperative mode, players check if their collective mission has been accomplished. If so, the gods will be pleased and all natives win the game. In competitive mode, solidarity points will be awarded to players who have given the most to the community, used the fewest resources, or achieved collective and personal objectives. The player with the most points wins the game.
