Moonshine is a dice-based engine-building game in which players play simultaneously. Each turn, each player exploits the dice results obtained by the active player for their own purposes, in order to increase the attractiveness of their speakeasy. The goal of the game is to attract enough customers to reach 12 prestige points. When a player achieves this, the game ends, and the player with the highest score wins the game.

A game consists of a succession of rounds, all of which proceed in the same way: first, the active player rolls - and optionally rerolls - all the dice they have access to, in order to validate a dice pool. Each player then uses the icons obtained as they see fit. These icons represent forbidden resources prized by potential customers (each player has their own potential customers). By meeting the specific needs of a customer, they enter the bar and gain a permanent bonus: prestige points, resource icons, access to other dice (blue and red), rerolls, other potential customers, etc. If a player does not wish or cannot exploit the dice result, they are not blocked! They can either take a Moon token and place it on one of their cards to unlock a temporary bonus, or replace one of their potential customers with a new one.

The game also offers an asymmetric starting variant: each speakeasy has completely different abilities and temporary bonuses!
