In 1713, King D. João V ordered Sergeant Melo de Palheta to go to French Guiana and secretly bring back coffee seeds to be planted in Brazil. By 1800, Brazil was already one of the largest coffee producers in the world.
At the beginning of the 20th century, coffee from Brazil, São Tomé and Príncipe, Angola, and Timor was widely appreciated in Portugal and inspired the appearance of prestigious cafés in iconic locations, attracting the elite. Thanks to dedication, hard work, and skill, the Portuguese 20th century saw the birth of one of the largest coffee industries in the world.
In Café, 1 to 4 players represent coffee companies that, from planting, aging, roasting, and distribution, attempt to create and control the best coffee supply chain.
