In SETI: Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence, a eurogame for 1 to 4 players, you lead a scientific institution tasked with searching for traces of life beyond planet Earth. The game is inspired by current and emerging technologies and efforts in space exploration.

Players explore nearby planets and their moons by launching probes from Earth while taking advantage of constantly changing planetary positions. You can decide to land on their surface to collect valuable samples or remain in orbit for a broader study. Additionally, by pointing your telescopes at distant star systems, you can detect traces of extraterrestrial signals or undiscovered exoplanets, and collect promising data to examine and study back home.

Back on Earth, you can invest in upgrading your equipment to more efficiently analyze received data, increase your telescope's signal capacity, or augment your resource supply, all in order to broaden the scope of your research which could lead to the discovery of extraterrestrial life forms.

You will also use over 200 cards to facilitate your efforts or direct your research in a particular direction to obtain additional bonuses and rewards. Each card has unique effects and illustrations and represents real-life technologies, projects, and discoveries (such as the ISS, the Large Hadron Collider, the Perseverance rover, the Voyager probe, and many more).
