The White Castle is Himeji Castle, built in Feudal Japan, where the banner of the Sakai clan flies under the command of Daimyo Sakai Tadakiyo. It is a very lively place where warriors, gardeners, and courtiers go about their respective tasks.
In the game, players take on the role of minor clan leaders vying for position and the future of their clan at the court of the White Heron. Astute and timely management of resources and placement of family members within Himeji Castle will be the key to victory.
The White Castle is an Eurogame that combines resource management, worker placement, and dice placement mechanics to perform actions. Over the course of the game, divided into three rounds, players send members of their clan to tend the gardens, defend the castle, or advance up the social ladder of the nobility. At the end of the game, these actions award victory points to players in various ways.
