The Spirit of Saint Louis was the first aircraft to cross the Atlantic solo and non-stop. On May 20, 1927, at 7:52 a.m., this custom-built, single-seat monoplane, piloted by Charles Lindbergh, departed from Long Island, New York, for a historic flight. After 33.5 hours and 3,600 miles, the aircraft arrived safely in Le Bourget, Paris.
