Sherlock Holmes: The Shadow of Jack the Ripper is a comic book combined with a game, a title from a series subtitled "The comic book where you are the hero". You play a character in an immersive story where your choices guide your progress. You have a character sheet similar to those used in role-playing games that lists your possessions, special abilities, parts, and victory points. Generally, the game consists of following the comic panels - which contain clues, puzzles, and traps - and choosing where to go and what to do, all while using your visual perception to collect clues and being smart enough to solve the puzzles. As in any game, you can lose, sometimes very heavily!
