5-Minute One Piece is a real-time cooperative game where players form a pirate crew and race to complete an island adventure before time runs out. Inspired by Netflix's live-action adaptation of One Piece, 5-Minute One Piece is a reinterpretation of 5-Minute Dungeon: players work together to match symbols from their hand, as in 5-Minute Dungeon, but must face the added challenge of completing sequences by placing cards on the Going Merry game board.
Gameplay: The group chooses one of the five Adventure decks to tackle together, then each player selects a Straw Hat Crew character card (Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Usopp, Sanji, Chopper) and their personal deck. Once the timer starts, players reveal the first card from the Adventure deck, which can represent an enemy, an event, or an ally. Defeating enemies (who may have passive abilities) is done by eliminating Challenge cards, all of which are sequences of 4 symbols. Players place cards in real-time on the Going Merry game board until the sequence of played cards matches the sequence of symbols on the Challenge Card. Once enough Challenge Cards are matched, the Adventure Card is completed and can be replaced by the next one.
5-Minute One Piece is designed to be accessible to all ages: while players have many character abilities and special actions through symbol cards to get out of tricky situations and triumph in high difficulty modes, beginner teams can also win by only using the symbol matching principle. Higher difficulty modes add cumulative time pressure and encourage challenge-seeking players to use special abilities.
